What the treatment involves

Your hygienist checks the health of your gums and measures the pockets around each tooth. Ultrasonic scaling then breaks up the hardened tartar above and below the gum line, and polishing removes surface stain and leaves the enamel smooth so plaque takes longer to settle again. If your gums are inflamed we plan a deeper clean over more than one visit.

Step by step

Aftercare

Your gums may feel tender and bleed slightly for a day or two — that is normal and it settles. Some people notice mild sensitivity to cold for about a week. Keep brushing gently twice a day, clean between your teeth daily, and book your next clean before you leave so it does not get forgotten.
